On Wednesday, October 30th, the fourth grade visited the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology to learn about indigenous peoples in North America through the program "Igloos to Adobe". This program was done in Spanish, giving the students an opportunity to answer questions and share their knowledge in Spanish. The museum guide showed the students how people migrated across North America and adapted their homes and tools to the climates and environments they lived in. Student volunteers were able to hold hunting spears and wear specialized clothing and tools.
In addition to the program, students explored the Harvard Museum of Natural History, which is physically linked to the Peabody Museum. Here, students saw exhibits of fossils, gems and minerals, as well as the Blaschka Glass Models of Plants and Flowers. There was so much to see! For those interested in visiting the Harvard Museum, admissions free to Massachusetts residents every Sunday morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
