"Even if you're little you can do a lot" is the message our 2nd and 3rd graders took away from their first field trip of the school year. On November 3, Dual Language students were guests at Wheelock Family Theater for their latest performance of Roald Dahl's Matilda, the Musical. Our students were able to practice their audience etiquette and move their learning from conceptual to practical with this real world theatrical experience. 2nd graders will further explore the story in drama class as they continue their work around character traits, setting and physicality. 3rd graders will resume their classwork around characterization and story structure with Matilda as their shared text. Furthermore, they will now have a real life example with which to draw previous knowledge when the time comes time to design their own musical later in the school year. As one of our 3rd graders put it, "Matilda gets 5 stars!"
